Bathymetric data collected on the scope of the PEPC - WMS

Geo WebService visualization service (WMS) for bathymetric data collected on the scope of the portuguese continental shelf extension project, using multibeam echo sounder systems. These data were used to create digital terrain models that allowed the morphometric study of the seabed, in accordance with article 76 of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Purpose

Os dados de batimetria foram obtidos no âmbito do projecto de extensão da plataforma continental de Portugal, por forma a caracterizar morfometricamente o fundo submarino. Este tipo de caracterização é absolutamente essencial para definir os pontos pé do talude, elementos estruturais para a definição do limite exterior da plataforma continental extendida.
