The information used for the elaboration of this product comes from sedimentary data recorded, digitised and integrated into the Shom Sedimentological Database (BDSS).
The sedimentary characteristics of the seabed come from data from the Shom, BRGM, Ifremer, the Universities of Lille 1, Rouen, Caen, Brest, La Rochelle, Bordeaux I, Corte and Perpignan, IntechMer, the Charente-Maritime Departmental Council, the Charente-Maritime Departmental Directorate for the Territories and the Sea, the Corsican Environment Office, and the Grand Ports Maritime of Bordeaux and Marseille. This map of surface sediments is the synthesis of data collected by various and varied means: lead sniffing, sampling and coring, aerial photographs and Litto3D (for the coastal fringe) and underwater, acoustic imagery by lateral sonar and very high resolution seismic multibeam sounder. The maps made from these data have been published as 45 paper maps from 1990 to 2023 called G charts.
