Statement

The Natural Park of Santa Maria Island was created in the year 2008 with the azorean regulation "Decreto Legislativo Regional nº 47/2008/A". This Natural Park involves all the protected areas on this island according to the Regional Network of Protected Areas on the Azores Islands developed by the azorean regulation "Decreto Legislativo Regional n.º 15/2007/A, de 25 de Junho".This Natural Park goals are basically the same as the ones from Regional Network of Protected Areas of Azores with the specific adjustements for each one.
